Q. What is a "Class 7" MOT?
A. A Class 7 MOT is required for commercial vehicles that weight between 3,000 - 3,500 kg. Your standard MOT for smaller vehicle such as the standard car and van only require a Class 4 MOT. This MOT tests for the usual routine checks, but includes the additional checks for the tyres to ensure they are suitable for the extra weight the vehicle possesses & a break efficiency test to also enable that the brakes can handle the additional weight the vehicle holds.
Q. What documents do I need to bring?
A. If this vehicle is undergoing the very first MOT, then a V5C vehicle registration certificate (the log book) is required when the vehicle is brought into our garage. This document is also required if your vehicle has had a change of registration plate since it's last MOT. In most other cases, the MOT does not require you to bring any further documentation. For safety purposes, we would like it if you removed as much weight as possible before bringing your vehicle in for an MOT to ensure that the ramps do not get overloaded with weight, and also that an overloaded vehicle can sometimes result in a fail of an MOT.
